April 18, 2011 (Micah 1-7)

All along our journey in this life we have a loving God who longs to remind us of His faithfulness. It was the same back in Micah's day:

6:5 Don’t you remember your journey from Acacia Grove to Gilgal,
when I, the Lord, did everything I could
to teach you about my faithfulness.”

And when Micah heard that from God, he 'mused to himself' about what would please the Lord. Would it be 'thousands of rams' and 'thousands of rivers of olive oil'? No, this is what he ended up with:

6:8 No, O people, the Lord has told you what is good,
and this is what he requires of you:
to do what is right, to love mercy,
and to walk humbly with your God.
9 Fear the Lord if you are wise!

In the midst of all the cares and worries of this life, of all the ups and downs, of all the pain and suffering, we have to keep this at the forefront:

7:7 As for me, I look to the Lord for help.
I wait confidently for God to save me,
and my God will certainly hear me.
8 Do not gloat over me, my enemies!
For though I fall, I will rise again.
   Though I sit in darkness,
the Lord will be my light.
9 I will be patient as the Lord punishes me,
for I have sinned against him.
But after that, he will take up my case
and give me justice for all I have suffered from my enemies.
The Lord will bring me into the light,
and I will see his righteousness.

  1. God will give us forgiveness for all of our sins. He will also fight for us against those who wrong us. It is not our job to get justice, God tells us to leave that to him.
